Harpers
Hall
makes its home in the San Francisco South Bay Area and
Central California Coast. Our purpose is to promote an
appreciation of the folk harp, to cultivate its living
musical tradition, and to preserve the fun and magic
of the harp for members and for the general public. To
that end, we hold numerous events throughout the year,
from harp jams to house concerts, festival
performances to yearly weekend retreats. Journey
through Harpers Hall to discover an enchanting world
of harpers and learn their songs and their stories.
Here you will meet many of the revelers, see
the various lands they travel to, and find out how to
join. |

Review: I was
reviewing the new CD from Harpers Hall titled Outstanding
in Our Field. With 20 tracks, it's a little bit
of this, a little bit of that... Solo harp, ensemble,
some with vocals, some with other instruments - a very
entertaining compilation. Also, the liner notes specify
make and model of the harp(s) used on many of the
tracks. Always nice to credit the makers -be forewarned
if you are shopping for a new harp and think this might
be a resource for hearing the different sounds to aid in
your decision – good luck special ordering a Bunker,
Witcher or Rydecki harp... Although Melody's will be
stocking these, all I've got is the sample (and I'm
keeping that for my personal collection!). If you gotta
have a copy right away, support Harpers Hall
directly.--John Gill, Owner, Melody's Traditional

Celtic Harp Magic
CD
The Celtic Harp Magic CD was picked up
by ARC, and is being distributed all over Europe and the US
under a different title and a new cover design. You can
still order copies from us, but note that this is the same
exact CD, same songs, same performances only the cover has
changed! The book is still available as well, and will still
have the original title and cover. The book contains
arrangements for all the tunes on the CD! Book

Review: Album Title: Harpers
Hall Collection Volume 1 Price: $10 Description: "Volume
One of this collection is a must for anyone curious
about the range of the harp, an acoustic instrument with
an electric glow. Its 20 songs include powerful solo,
duet and ensemble performances of Celtic and Classical
standards as well as surprising interpretations of
African, Latin and Blues." --Brad Kava, Pop Music

Harpers Hall Ensemble Book, Volume 1
by members of Harpers Hall
We have renamed our first book
to include "Volume 1" now that we have a second
book.
The 8 pieces in this book are arranged for a
multi-level group to play as an ensemble. Harp
1 is the easy harp part, and can be played
on a 26 string harp with only the F and C
sharping levers. Harp 2 is the
intermediate part and Harp 3 is more
advanced. All of these arrangements were
test-driven by the Harpers Hall Ensemble.
Harpers Hall is a chapter of the International
Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen that
performs regularly in and around the San
Francisco Bay Area at Scottish Games, Celtic
Fairs, and festivals. Twice a year, we organize
a "Gifts from the Harp" concert whose proceeds
go the local charity organizations. Proceeds
from this book will go toward funding these
concerts. (45 pages)

Harpers
Hall Ensemble Book Rehearsal
CD
Three versions of each song are recorded,
allowing you to play along with the full
arrangement or to hear only one part at a
time. This CD was made from music notation files
using computer sounds rather than with live
instruments. The three parts were recorded with
different instrument sounds, and panned left,
center, and right.
